This page is dedicated to amazing and inexplicable plays during Tecmo Super Bowl, SNES version.  Since most of the sites boast how the NES version is better, I'll share my thoughts right up front.

    The NES version is fine.  In fact, it probably has a better roster (Bo Jackson).  However, the SNES version has several important advantages:

-ability to change quarter length
-ability to change playbook during play
-touchbacks
-ability to block punts
For these reason (and the fact that my brother lost our NES version of Tecmo), we play the SNES version.

THE PLAYERS

     . 

ANDY

    Andy's favorite teams are the Bills (of course), Chiefs, Vikings, and Eagles.  His favorite players are Derrick Thomas, Tom Waddle, and Audrey McMillan, cornerback on the Vikings (75 in interceptions!).    His least favorite player is Deion Sanders.  (No, I won't shut up about his three fumbles in the pro bowl)
    One of Andy's new favorite players is Tommy Kane, WR of the Seahawks, (AKA "The Citizen" for his fine performance against the Raiders).  He owns the field like Charles Foster owns Xanadu.


AARON

        Aaron's favorite team is the Colts.  He is also a Tom Waddle fan.  Aaron loves the flea flicker, reverses, and shotgun plays.  He tends to take more chances than Andy, especially 4th down tries.  Aaron has a very good running game.
    Michael Jackson (Wide Receiver, Browns) has also treated Aaron pretty well.  Just don't mention Dan Marino anywhere around him (7 interceptions in one game).

    By the way, Aaron and I (Andy) have broken an interesting record lately.  We had seven turnovers in one quarter (8 min quarters, SNES).

PLAY # 1:  The 4th down Flea Flicker

The first video is one of Aaron's most courageous play to date.  First drive of the game, 4th down and one yard to go.  Defensively, Andy picks flea flicker for the first three plays, "just in case."  On the fourth play, Andy picks something else, and Aaron jackpots.  Watch how close this pass is to being blocked.  I think Aaron got 69 yards on the play...

PLAY # 2:  Collins the Iron Man

This wasn't a hugely important play, but sort of interesting.  Every once in a while, a player like L.T. or Percy Snow will recover the fumble or make an interception and suddenly become unstoppable.  Players bounce off them like jelly beans.
Aaron is Green Bay... going for the huge pass.  Andy intercepts it, and suddenly Collins becomes Superman.  He takes down seven Packers before someone finally dives at him, taking him down.





PLAY # 3:  Body Surfing

This is one of the weirdest things I've ever seen in Tecmo.  McMurtry makes a great catch for the Colts, and proceeds to run out of bounds.  Aaron chases him with Marshall, but keep an eye on his player (Player 2)... he bounces off McMurtry, then proceeds to go body surfing in the crowd.

 

PLAY # 4:  Thanks for the escort!

This was a huge play.  Watch how Andy gets a personal escort by two of Aaron's players for about three yards after he makes the catch.  59 yard play... three of those yards thanks to Aaron.


PLAY # 5:  The fantastic forward flea fumble

This is a second amazing play in the Chicago/Minnesota game.  It's probably the most amazing thing I've seen in Tecmo.  Aaron picks a flea flicker (of course) but this time, Andy calls it.  His defensive line make minced meat out of ever single one of his players.  Watch how far Aaron's quarterback is tossed!  He's fetalized!  His running back continues with the pattern, but since his quarterback has been tossed about ten yards forward, he pitches the ball right at him.
This should be an incomplete pass, not a fumble!  Instead, the ball goes out of bounds and he gets five yards out of the deal!
PLAY #6: The Price is right!

    This is another example of a player who is never supposed to touch the ball possessed with super-human strength.  Price makes the great interception and proceeds to "make popcorn" out of the other players.  Enjoy.

       PLAY # 7:  Corn on the Cobb

    Reggie Cobb is a great running back for the Bucks.  Sometimes he makes great catches, too.  Watch him make a diving catch, then fetalize two defenders at ease with his 88 hitting power.
      PLAY #8:  Green Goes Nuts

This play is a simply bizarre.  Actually, it's two consecutive plays.  Aaron (the Lions) has the ball with very little time left in the second quarter.  A touchdown would really be great for him.  The first play is a first down that should NOT have happened.  Check out the ILLEGAL block by Willie Green.  Actually, it looks more like he's running around with his helmet off, tripping all over the field.

The second play on this clip is Willie Green sliding all over the place... with Barry Sanders making a dash for the endzone.  The best part is after the whistle is blown, Green is still running around, sliding all over the place, destroying a whole pile of Bucks.  Watch how they're popcorned all over the field.


        PLAY # 9:  The Great Escape

In this play, watch Byars, one of the running backs for the Dolphins.  Apparently, he's tired of not getting the ball and has decided to run home.  After the whistle is blown, he's outta here.  Come back Byars, it's only a game!



        PLAY # 10:  Anderson Makes Popcorn!

This is another popcorn play.  Aaron gets the interception, and since his player has gone bionic he decides to fetalize some players even though he's yards from the endzone.  Watch how many just go FLYING.  I've never seen so many players go bouncing off.

Okay, I lied. This is the MOST amazing play I've seen.  McMillan of the Eagles sees a fumble, picks it up, and turns into a killing machine!  He MASSACRES every player trying to tackle him at least twice!  Aaron doesn't care about going for the touchdown, he just decides to dislocate some shoulderblades and break some collar bones!  He runs about 2 minutes off the clock just running people over.. there are fetuses all over!  If you only watch one movie, watch this one.  It's the craziest play we've ever taped.
