Animations made at ISU

Here is a small sampling of the projects I produced at Iowa State.  The cartoons were done by "Animation Shmanimation," comprised of John C. Meyers, Joshua Herbolsheimer, and myself from 1999 to 2001.  The cartoons appeared in the show 1800 Seconds.  My personal favorites are The Best Cartoon Ever, Dracula Joins the Workforce (if you like puns) and Mondays Are For Nerfherders.

First Ever Cartoon (HiRes 3.7meg)  (LowRes 1.3meg)

Channel Surfing (HiRes 7.1meg)   (LowRes 2.5meg)

Mondays are for Nerfherders (HiRes 7.1meg) (LowRes 2.5meg)

Constant Heart Attack Man Goes on a Date
(HiRes 10.4meg) (LowRes 3.7meg)

The Halloween Spooktacular!
 (HiRes 9.6meg) (LowRes 3.4meg)

1800 Seconds Clips

1800 Seconds was a show created by myself, Michael Dahlstrom, Abby Zirkle and Trent Malven in the Fall of 1999.  We really had no idea what we were doing when it came to video production, but maybe that helped us produce more material.  Lights and sound just slow you down, right?

I think the show's popularity helped revitalize ISU's student channel, and for a couple years there was a lot of really great student content being created.

Here are a few of my favorite clips from the show.  Enjoy.

All videos in Quicktime 320x240, iPod ready!

New Year's Eve 1999 (Watch - 1.5 meg)

I think New Year's Eve 1999 was based on an idea by Woodsie and I.  Or maybe just Woodsie.  I don't remember.  It was 4 years ago so get off my back already.  To be fair, this isn't quite the original version.  It has been remastered.  I'm afraid someday Mark Wahlberg will be starring in a "reimagining," but for now it has only been remastered.  I hope I didn't break the funny.

Time Machine (Watch - 8meg)

Time Machine was written by Jeff Hansen, starring Jeff Hansen, Michael Dahlstrom, John Schomberg, and Aimee Schulz.  Directed by Andy Langager.

Lou Grissle (Watch - 14meg)

Lou Grissle was written by and stars Jeff Hansen.  Also starring Jeff Lockhart, Trent Malven, Chris Bloomquist, and Michael Dahlstrom.  Directed by Andy Langager.

Liquid Bacon (Watch - 5.6meg)

Liquid Bacon was written by John Meyers, Josh Herbolsheimer, and Andy Langager.  It stars John Woods, Michael Dahlstrom, Aimee Schulz, Ben Hrncirik, Ruben Hidalgo, and Tom Peterson.

Campus Cabbies (Watch - 10meg)

Campus Cabbies was written, I believe, by Jeff Hansen.  It stars Jeff Hansen and John Woods.  It was shot by Andy Langager and Abby Zirkle.

The following are clips of Woodsie's Weather, starring John Woods, John Meyers, and Jeff Lockhart.

Woodsie's Weather Compilation 1 (Watch - 7.4meg)

Woodsie's Weather Compilation 2 (Watch - 6.8meg)

Woodsie's Weather Compilation 3 (Watch - 11meg)

Woodsie's Weather Compilation 4 (Watch - 10.6meg)

Hunt for Hank II (Watch - 5.3meg)

Hunt for Hank courtesy the mind of Michael Dahlstrom.

Quatro (Watch - 6.3meg)

Quatro courtesy the minds of Tom Peterson, Jeff Policky, and Scott Moorehead.

Discoman I (Watch - 11.6meg)

Discoman II (Watch - 16meg)

Discoman III (Watch - 17meg)

Discoman written and produced by David Byrd. Starring Woodsie, Dahlstrom, and Langley.

John Schomberg Monologue (Watch - 7.6meg)

Written by John Schomberg, co-starring Aimee.

Dumbrella (Watch - 3.1meg)

Dumbrella shot by Andy, with Rua, Josh, Ruben, Tom, and Ben.

3rd Grade Deperado (Watch - 5.2meg)

This skit was written by John Meyers, starring Jeff, Korene, Ruben, and a bunch of other 1800 Seconds actors.

Coco Puffs (Watch - 7meg)

Coco Puffs is the brainchild of John Schomberg.

Role Models (Watch - 4meg)

From an idea (and directed by?) by Michael Dahlstrom, starring John Schomberg, Tom Peterson, Bryan Kelley, David Byrd and Willy Thompson.

Hernando's Hideaway (Watch - 6.2meg)

By Jeff Hansen.  Starring Ross, Willy, Langley, Bryan and John.

1800 Seconds Opening (2001 Season?) (Watch - 3meg)

Produced by, I think, Jeff Hansen, Michael Dahlstrom and Woodsie.

POV Trailer

Trailer for the movie we did the summer of 2001
Persistence of Vision (HiRes 3.4meg) (Low Res 1.2meg)

This was a feature-length movie shot on DV produced and directed by myself, starring the most awesome cast in the world: Woodsie, Dustin McDonough, Dan Mundt, Michael Dahlstrom, Megan Finch, Bryan Kelley, Aaron Siskow, and some other really funny people.

The crew wasn't that bad either.  You know who you are.

Here are a couple clips from Breaking News, a movie we started working on in the summer of 2003 but never had time to finish.

It's a mockumentary about a small struggling news station.  I hope we can finish it some day with most if not all the original cast.  I think BK's performance is one of the funniest I have ever seen in anything.
