Random Thoughts
Arthur C. Clarke is dead... will have to read 2001 again. You should too. It's good.
. . .
I love YouTube... we don't have to rely on the mainstream media as much for our news anymore. In the past we might have to read a newspaper story or a 2 minute package on someone's speech... but now we can go to YouTube and watch the whole thing, without it edited for us. On the other hand, it also helps circulate videos like The Rev. Wright one that Obama's great speech was in response to (not that the Wright video should be kept secret, but it sort of blows things out of proportion... context, people!)
. . .
Here are the movies from the IMDB Top 250 that I haven't seen:
48. Leben der Anderen, Das (2006) 34,040
130. Into the Wild (2007) 22,534
193. Umberto D. (1952) 4,753
195. Stalker (1979) 11,802
207. The Lost Weekend (1945) 7,433
211. The Ox-Bow Incident (1943) 5,265
219. Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans (1927) 6,224
224. Du rififi chez les hommes (1955)
231. Once (2006) 13,512
242. In Cold Blood (1967) 6,879
250. Haine, La (1995) 17,001
I still don't think I'll be able to ever catch up.. maybe for a day or two.

What do you, dear reader, think about the rumor floating around about an iTunes subscription? Twenty bucks a month gets you unlimited songs? I assume you lose the music once you stop paying. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't do it.

Cody and I are hooked on The Wire (if you haven't seen it, I'd describe it as "kind of like The Sopranaos but better"; but even that doesn't do it justice) -- for anyone else following the show, here is a recap of some of the best write-ups about the series finale.
. . .
Other than that, DMACC is on spring break so I've been hanging out with Chester, catching up on some reading, doing taxes, and cleaning the house, and feeling better now that spring is around the corner (winter: do not like!).

Everyday life:
Every night we put him to bed in his kennel in the basement. We had it on our kitchen for a while, but he kept whining. We weren't sure if maybe there was a smell that wasn't pleasant for him or what, but we put him in the basement so we could get some sleep. Since then we've tried the kennel upstairs again, but he whines more. He seems to like it down there (Shih Tzus are supposed to be sensitive to high temps, so maybe he likes the coolness).
Before we put him to bed, we bring him outside for a final bathroom break. He always brings his frog outside with him. When we say "get your frog!" he knows the routine. When he comes back inside, he gets really playful with his tail wagging all over the place and starts playing pranks like pretending the couch is where he is going to sleep, going inside the travel kennel that is upstairs, or "digging" in the futon and hiding his frog.
Eventually we'll tell him it's bed time for real and he'll go in his kennel. Once in a while he'll go right into his kennel after going outside if he's really tired.
Every morning we'll open his kennel door and comes upstairs for a nice scratching and belly rub.
He gets a walk in the morning before we have to leave for walk and one when I get home.
His favorite walk destination is Bone-apa-Treat, a pet treat/toy store nearby.
Normally he is pretty good about not running away, but once in a while he'll think it's hilarious to run just out of reach and run around the neighbor houses.
He also loves playground slides and chasing tennis balls at the park.
He likes to play fetch and we're working on making him stay and not run after the toy until we say okay.
He also likes to chase toys attached to strings (like his cardinal).
He's much better about not biting compared a few months ago. We used to not even be able to have him on the couch without him biting us.
He loves meeting new people and dogs.
Although we were told he was non-shedding when we got him, we could probably knit a sweater with a week's worth of brushing. Sometimes there will just be huge clumps of hair that you can just take out with your fingers. He also has a lot of mattes (mats?). He'll get a haircut in a month or two.
He tends to only eat out of toys that dispense food. He has eaten out of his food bowl the past couple days, but until then he would prefer to work for his food, batting the toys around as the kibble falls out. He sits and looks at the clear plastic cups we use to scoop food when he wants some.
He's good about not barking at other dogs while out on a walk (knock on wood). He does bark when he's tied up in the backyard, especially at squirrels that taunt him from the trees.
When we got him, the guy said the breed would be okay for walks, but mostly just around the block. He's gone for looooong walks/hikes with us. He'll go forever.
He also really likes to explore in the water and swim.
All I can think of for now, Aimee probably has more...
