More Mauer
"The reports," Pirates coach Rich Donnelly explained, "basically showed he doesn't strike out, doesn't pop up and has no holes. It's like with Tony Gwynn, Barry Bonds and Albert Pujols. When you go over the reports on hitters like that, you basically just go, 'Next.' Why waste five minutes? And Mauer is putting himself in that class."

Free Tri-fold InDesign Brochure Template Download!
If I can't find it online in less than, oh, 1-2 minutes I consider it buried a little too deep in the Interweb.
You know, you're searching for that file or update or specification and you keep ending up on those spam pages that link you to another spam page... or a Yahoo! Answers page of dubious credibility.
I tried searching for a template for a tri-fold brochure for InDesign, found a couple links, but didn't really find what I was looking for so I made my own.
I tried to make the measurements "perfect" (with the last page slightly smaller so it will fold in correctly) so here is what they are:
Margins: 3/8" (2.25 pica -- you can change this easily)
First two pages: 3.6875 inches (22.125 pica)
Last page: 3.625 inches (21.75 pica)
Grids on the folds, with grid lines 3/8" from the fold.
Viola! The Perfect Tri-Fold CS3 InDesign Brochure Template Download! (right click to download)
Let me know if I screwed up. (or if, say, InDesign already had this built in and I just wasted an hour)

The Loop
I don't remember the last video Cody, Aaron and I all worked on. Cody wasn't in Oxymorons 4.5 so it might be something from when we were all still students six years ago.
Anyway, Aaron wanted to put something together to help teach his students Final Cut Pro. We decided it shouldn't be too "Oxy" since whatever we did, his students would surely do something similar. We decided on a Twilight Zone-style idea. The original story had a few more things including Cody calling himself and a neighbor in the hallway, but we didn't quite have time for all that.
Aaron actually had a cut of this as well (about half done?) but I think it's either lost or floating around at Grand View.
Props to Cody for his going along with our shenanigans. We shot it in a couple hours at his place with one light.
Without further ado... The Loop!

24... it's torture for your brain!
Everyone tune in for the season finale of "24"? Wasn't it terrible? Kind of make you feel like you wasted about 24 hours? Well, let's waste another minute and see how those "24" predictions a while back panned out!
(Spoilers!)

Chairman Mauer has been eating his Wheaties
Joe Mauer of the Twins is on fire.
We already know the guy can hit (with batting titles in 2006 and 2008) and I don't want to jinx him with this post but,
Mauer's previous best home run season was 2006 when he hit 13 in 608 at-bats -- that's one home run in every 46.77 at-bats.
In 2001 when Barry Bonds hit his 73 home runs, he had 476 official at-bats, making it a home run for every 6.52 at-bats.
Mauer missed the first month of baseball so he has less than half the at-bats he should have, but so far he has 11 home runs in 81 at-bats (including a solo pinch-hit home run in today's loss against Boston -- after being hit on the wrist last night by a pitch). That's a home run for every 7.36 at-bats.
Morneau, who is supposed to be the Twins' power hitter has one more home run than Mauer in 169 at-bats.
And just for reference, Roger Maris hit 61 home runs in 590 at-bats (one in 9.67 at-bats) and Mark McGwire hit 70 home runs in 509 at-bats (one in 7.27).
Granted, it's pretty unlikely Mauer will keep this pace up (although who knows, his first hit when he returned this season was a home run) but right now it's pretty fun to watch (even if the Twins don't have the pitching to stay above .500).
Check out his upper-deck bomb last night here.

Werth a lot
Jason Werth steals four bases in a game including home.
Stealing home is about the coolest play. Besides the suicide squeeze.
